Our Programmes

Future Quest Programmes 25/26

Future Quest delivers a suite of targeted, evidence-based programmes designed to raise aspirations, build essential skills, and support key educational transitions for young people.

Targeted Delivery for Maximum Impact

Our programmes are now offered to schools based on external evidence of where need is greatest in our region. Based on the Office for Students' Equality of Opportunity Risk Register and local academic research, this approach uses school-level data, such as severe absence rates and percentage of students eligible for Free School Meals, to identify areas of greatest need. Programmes are matched accordingly to ensure our delivery is focused, impactful, and equitable.

Due to capacity, not all programmes are available to every school. Instead, we prioritise delivery where the need is highest, ensuring that our resources support those who will benefit most.

Programme Overview

  • Successful Me!

    Target group: Year 7
Successful Me! supports students through the vital transition to secondary school. With a focus on communication, self-awareness, and character development, this programme builds confidence and essential life skills. Students explore body image, diversity, and conversational skills through games and interactive activities, culminating in a university visit where they meet real students and put their new skills into practice. It’s a powerful early intervention that sets the tone for future success.

  • Future Steps: My Choices

    Target group: Year 8
This dynamic programme helps students connect their current education to future opportunities. Through interactive workshops and optional campus visits, students explore career pathways, develop decision-making skills, and build motivation for their GCSE choices and beyond. Activities are rooted in oracy and dialogic learning, encouraging students to reflect on their identity, goals, and future selves. The programme demystifies post-16 options and empowers students to take ownership of their journey.

  • Future Mindset

    Target group: Year 9
Future Mindset is designed to help students thrive during the critical GCSE option year. It introduces growth mindset theory, character strengths, and evidence-based study techniques to boost academic performance and resilience. Students learn how to learn, developing metacognitive skills, soft skills for the workplace, and confidence in their future choices. A campus visit adds real-world context, helping students visualise their next steps and raise aspirations.

  • Future Fundamentals

    Target group: Year 10
This programme is a game-changer for GCSE preparation. Future Fundamentals equips students with advanced study strategies, memory techniques, and time management tools grounded in cognitive science and metacognition research. Students learn how to take effective notes, analyse texts, and craft revision plans that work. The final campus visit brings everything together, offering a glimpse into university life and reinforcing the value of sustained effort and planning.

  • Routes Into: Healthcare

    Target group: Year 10
Routes Into: Healthcare is an immersive programme that introduces students to careers in health and social care. Co-created with UWE healthcare academics and professionals, it includes hands-on workshops simulating patient journeys, from emergency response to rehabilitation. Students gain insight into NHS values, explore pathways into healthcare, and experience university-level training environments. A taster day at UWE’s Glenside Campus brings the sector to life, inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals.

  • Step Ahead

    Target group: Year 10 & 11
A bespoke programme, in partnership with Universify Education, supporting care experienced students with confidence-building, coaching, and exposure to higher education. Includes:

    • Campus visits across UWE and University of Bristol
    • Online coaching throughout Year 11
    • GCSE attainment support

This programme is designed to be gradual, inclusive, and empowering, helping students feel seen, supported, and capable of achieving their goals.

Impact & Evaluation

All programmes include baseline and end-of-programme questionnaires, alongside our annual student survey. On many programmes, students and staff are also given the chance to share their thoughts in interviews. This allows us to track students' progress between the start and end of the programme, as well as longer-term, as we follow their journey through school. Schools with sufficient engagement in our evaluation activities will be able to access personalised reports.
