Future Quest Secondary

From its inception in 2017, Future Quest Secondary has worked as a regional partnership to combat educational inequality for local young people. As the programme has evolved, it has remained true to its core focus to work with students in local Secondary Schools, reducing the gap in higher education participation between the most and least represented groups and supporting young people to make well-informed decisions about their future.

Future Quest Secondary works with school age students studying at Key Stages 3 to 5 (aged 11-18), and their teachers to provide high quality outreach activities across the four key themes: strengths, skills, pathways and encounters, building progressive and connected packages of outreach which can be timetabled throughout the academic year.

This core offer is complimented by specialist programmes and one-off opportunities for targeted groups in Secondary Schools who need additional support. Activity packages are tailored for individual institutes and are delivered by our Future Quest Secondary delivery team. Students in the schools that we work with are given opportunities to engage in a variety of workshops, assemblies, small group tasks and one-to-one interactions aimed at closing the gap in higher education participation through subject specific content or access to Higher Education and skills development.

Much of the programme content is developed in collaboration with Higher Education academic staff; university students; and a number of Future Quest partners.
