Body image is one of the leading concerns for young people in the United Kingdom. As part of the broader programme of activities on offer in conjunction with Future Quest, the Centre for Appearance Research at UWE Bristol is conducting a research project to evaluate different interactive programmes aimed at developing positive body image in boys and girls aged 13-14 (Year 9) in secondary schools. These programmes are designed to be taught by class teachers, with all learning materials and teacher training provided. The results of this research will help to maximise our ability to positively impact the lives of young people across the UK with effective body image education.
The project commenced in September 2017. Currently, we are working with 14 secondary schools, providing expert-led teacher training on body image to over 30 teachers, who are facilitating lessons on how to improve and build skills related to body confidence with over 1000 students.
The invitation is still open for further schools who would like to take part, for commencement in January 2018. If you are interested in this opportunity or have any questions regarding the project, please contact Jade Parnell firstname.lastname@example.org.
